Institutional Effectiveness

​Mercy College defines institutional effectiveness as the systematic and ongoing process of collecting, analyzing and acting on data and information relating to the goals and outcomes developed to support the College’s Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision.

Institutional effectiveness is oriented toward measuring results and using these results to aid in decision-making and improving programs and services of the College that support student learning. It is the ability of an institution to meet its strategic plan and mission.

Are we achieving the 4 goals and objectives within the Strategic Plan? What changes/adjustments need to be made each year to achieve the goals and objectives?

LEARNING OUTCOMES

How systematic strategic planning, driven by a comprehensive assessment process, supports teaching, learning, both in and out of the classroom (Co-curricular assessment).

INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT DEPARTMENT INSTITUTIONAL GOALS (DIG) AND COMMITTEE ANNUAL REPORTS (CAR)

How well are the departments/divisions doing their jobs in order to arrive at where they want to be or who they wish to become? What plans do the departments have that need to be integrated into the Strategic Plan's objectives?

INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT (EVIDENCE)

How can the College improve what it is doing? Evidence is needed that demonstrates that programs and services have been improved?

SPACE AND PLANNING


How is the college effectively planning to provide an environment conductive to student learning?

STRATEGIC ENROLLMENT

How is the College's Strategic Enrollment Plan aligned with the Goals and Objectives in the Strategic Plan to grow and sustain the College?

The Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council Committee Flow Chart demonstrates the alignment of Space and Planning, Strategic Enrollment, College, Assessment, with Institutional Effectiveness (DIG reports) that then influence the Strategic Plan for the College.

Institutional Effectiveness is a college wide effort aimed at ensuring that we are what we claim to be and are gauging the relative quality of our education and other services through such assessments as accreditation, program review, functional reviews and required government data submissions.
