Community Health Worker

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Certificate program prepares students to work as a member of the healthcare team providing services as part of the patient-centered medical home (PCMH). The program includes lecture, laboratory and clinical components designed to prepare students for entry into professional practice as Community Health Workers in the state of Ohio. Graduates will be able to apply to the Ohio Board of Nursing for their certificate to practice as Community Health Workers.

Computed Tomography

The online Computed Tomography (CT) credit certificate program offers students a plan of study that provides fundamental didactic training on the essentials of computed tomography imaging.

Emergency Medical Technician - Basic

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) represent the first responders in the emergency medical system. This level of training prepares students to care for patients at the scene of an accident and while transporting patients by ambulance to the hospital under the direction of more highly trained medical personnel.

Imaging Quality and Safety

The online credit certificate program offers students a plan of study that provides fundamental didactic training on the essentials of medical imaging quality and safety (IQS) essentials. The program will prepare students for advanced responsibilities in the field. All earned college credits from the IQS Credit Certificate program will apply directly to the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging program.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The online Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) credit certificate program offers students a plan of study that provides fundamental didactic training on the essentials of magnetic resonance imaging.

Medical Coding

The Medical Coding certificate program offers convenience and flexibility with 100% online medical coding courses. It prepares students to work as part of the healthcare team as integral members of the health information industry. Professional medical coders are responsible for selecting the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes of various medical services for data analysis and reimbursement.

Ophthalmic Assistant

Lecture courses for the Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate Program are offered online with clinical and lab requirements available in Toledo, Youngstown, and Cincinnati.

Ophthalmic Assistants are specialists in eye healthcare that assist the Ophthalmologist in caring for the patient. Our program will prepare students to work as part of the healthcare team in the growing fields of ophthalmology and optometry.

Paramedic

The Paramedic Certificate program prepares students for the State of Ohio Paramedic Certification, eligibility to take National Registry (NREMT) exam, the ability to apply for licensure in other states, and the option of applying college credit earned in certificate program toward advanced degrees in related healthcare fields.

Phlebotomy

The Phlebotomy non-credit certificate program is available only at Mercy College's Toledo campus and offers content pertaining to routine venipuncture and dermal techniques; non-blood collection procedures; proper specimen handling; safety and infection control; venipuncture equipment; complications; medical ethics; confidentiality; and effective communication. Students will also learn about the function of a full-service laboratory. The clinical experience is scheduled as if it were a full-time job (day shift, Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, no evenings or weekend hours).

Polysomnographic Technology

If you want a short-term program that will allow you to work directly with patients in a challenging, high-tech and in-demand career, Mercy College’s Polysomnographic Technology Certificate program might be the perfect program for you. Polysomnographic Technologists are the health care practitioners who perform and help interpret sleep studies, which gather extensive data concerning an individual’s physiologic activity while sleeping. Our program will prepare students to work as part of the healthcare team in the growing fields of sleep medicine and polysomnography.

Women's Health Imaging

The online credit certificate program offers students a plan of study that provides fundamental didactic training on the essentials of women’s health imaging (WHI). The program will prepare students for advanced roles in medical imaging. All earned college credits from the WHI Credit Certificate program will apply directly to the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging program.
