Mercy College will welcome students to campus on Tuesday, May 19

Most, but not all classes at Mercy College will be delivered online this summer. Students involved in courses with face-to-face delivery will be strictly managed using guidelines outlined for social distancing and universal precautions through the summer semester beginning today with students on campus Tuesday, May 19. March 6 was the last day students had classes on the campus of Mercy College with employees working remotely beginning March 18.

"The coursework that will take place on campus includes activities that are not effectively delivered in an online format, says Dr. Susan Wajert, President." Students, faculty, and staff on campus for any reason will notice significant changes since the last time the college had face-to-face classes. The safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority."

Some of the changes include required temperature checks upon entering the building and the required wearing of masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed. Elevators will be limited to two people (with marks on the elevator floors where users should stand) and the classrooms and labs have been rearranged to facilitate social distancing.

"Students, faculty, and staff will follow prescribed directions and instructions to ensure direct exposure to one another is minimized. Safely preparing the next generation of healthcare providers is something Mercy College takes very seriously," says Dr. Trevor Bates, Vice President of Academic Affairs. "The small number of students and classes provides the opportunity to carefully evaluate what works as plans for the fall semester continue to be developed," he adds.

Now, more than ever, the need for healthcare workers has never been so apparent and Mercy College faculty and staff continue their commitment by providing high-quality educational opportunities in a safe environment.
