Important information regarding Spring 2021

Transcript of Video:

Hi, I am Sue Wajert, President of Mercy College of Ohio.

I recently shared with faculty, staff, and students the College plans for the spring 2021 semester, and I also want to share that information with our prospective students and other stakeholders of the College.

In March, at the beginning of the pandemic, all course content was moved to online delivery.

In the summer, face-to-face classes resumed on a small scale, and for fall semester, all lecture content is online with skills labs, simulation and other hands-on instruction taking place on-campus. Students are attending clinical and preceptor experiences in the local hospitals and other healthcare agencies.

All on-campus experiences are carefully scheduled, and the number of students is limited to less than 200 at any one time. To protect the health and safety of those on campus, anyone entering the college must have their temperature checked, wear a protective face covering and follow strict social distancing guidelines.

The academic calendar for fall has been modified eliminating fall break, with all on-campus activities ending on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Students will complete the remainder of their work for the fall semester in the online environment.

Similar plans are in place for the spring 2021 semester. All lectures will continue to be delivered online, and students will attend clinical and preceptor experiences in area healthcare settings. Students will continue to participate in hands-on activities at the College.

All safety measures will remain in place.

The spring calendar has been modified as well. Spring break is being canceled the week of March 8-12, 2021.

Three long weekends have been added to substitute for spring break.

Please visit mercycollege.edu/covid19 for complete details about the spring 2021 semester calendar.

The COVID19 page contains a form for you to complete and submit if you have questions. You will receive a response within 24 hours.

Be assured we continue to provide the best education in preparing future healthcare providers.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the students, faculty, and staff for following the health and safety protocol at Mercy College.

We have not experienced many of the same challenges as other colleges due to high compliance with following all safety measures.

I’m so proud of the flexibility and resilience demonstrated by Mercy College employees and students. The commitment to our students has been apparent every day. We will continue to get through this together. We are Mercy Strong!
