We at Mercy College Pray for Peace and Justice
The Mercy College of Ohio community joins the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and Bon Secours Mercy Health, in praying for peace and justice. As we respond to national events, we are guided by our values of:
- Compassion – Displaying respect, empathy, and a willingness to listen.
- Human Dignity – Respecting the significance of each individual.
- Justice – Acting with integrity, fairness, honesty, and truthfulness.
- Sacredness of life – Revering all life through our thoughts, words, and actions.
Mercy College faculty, staff, and students are committed to providing an inclusive environment that welcomes all people regardless of variations in thoughts, experiences, values, and traditions.
Mercy College of Ohio condemns all forms of racial injustice, and we come together as a community in taking a stand against racial inequality, discrimination, violence, and all forms of oppression.
We join the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas in their prayer and statement of solidarity:
The Institute Leadership Team of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, join with the many who grieve the recent killing of George Floyd as well as all victims of racial injustice.
“We pray for comfort for each of these families as they face the painful loss of their loved ones. We pray for the African American Community, repeatedly impacted by the trauma these killings produce, that the supportive care is accessible and available. We pray for this Nation’s deep racial divide to end and that true healing will occur.
We pray unceasingly, and we stand.
We stand in solidarity with the many calling for justice and an end to the extrajudicial killings of African Americans.”
This is a difficult time for many. We long for healing for all those who are struggling right now. For students, faculty and staff who need support, resources are available. Please see below.
